Veidekke Entreprenør AS and Siemens AS have signed a contract for excavation and concreting work for the new gas-fired power plant at Kårstø. The contract price is NOK 143.5 million and the main part of the work will be completed by October 2006.

Earlier this year Siemens AS was awarded the contract for the construction of Naturkraft's gas-fired power plant at Kårstø. When completed, this power plant will be the most modern of its kind ever built.

Veidekke has a long history at Kårstø and for more than twenty years has had continuous assignments at Statoil's mainland plant. This work has included excavation and concreting, construction of various buildings, in-rock and underwater work, infrastructure, and operation and maintenance.

"We are naturally delighted to have won this contract," says Ove Nedrebø, Veidekke's District Manager in Haugesund. "We are on home ground here and we have a well-established network of partners," he adds.
