The contract includes widening and upgrading of 1.3 km of motorway, a new traffic lane alignment and repositioning of the central reserve. Veidekke will also build a new flyover over the E6 where it enters a tunnel in the northern part of the section. The main work will involve blasting and earth-moving, road foundation work and surfacing, and a number of concrete structures.

The construction area is on the stretch of the road where the E6 and the E18 run together, near the Tusenfryd Amusement Park. The volume of traffic is very heavy on this part of the motorway. Annual average daily traffic is around 50,000 vehicles per day.

The construction work will start immediately and is scheduled for completion by 15 May 2009.
