Veidekke with major contract for OBOS at Vollebekk

OBOS has awarded Veidekke Entreprenør the contract to build the first stage comprising 127 apartments in four apartment blocks at Vollebekk in Oslo. The new residential project will comprise more than 800 homes and some commercial areas when ready. This is a turnkey contract valued at NOK 241 million, excluding VAT.

"We have taken part in developing the project with OBOS in a collaborative phase that started in December. Here all parties have been on board from the start in order to ensure an optimal and integrated process from removal of the current industrial operations to realization of an attractive and future-oriented residential community. We are pleased with the confidence OBOS has shown in us and are now looking forward to start building the first stage," says head of department Anders W. Haugen of Veidekke.

Vollebekk has for many years been known as an an industrial site in Bjerke city district. Now this is about to change through a major urban development project where large sections of the area will be redeveloped from the ground up. Vollebekk will become a green and urban area, just 13 minutes by metro from the city centre. Veidekke is to build a wide selection of high quality apartments with good floor plan solutions.

Emphasis will be on designing good outdoor environments to promote activity for people of all ages, as well as being a common meeting ground for residents. The buildings will enclose green, protected spaces with recreational areas, squares, pedestrian streets, parks and meeting spaces. There will also be a main square with various retail outlets and high quality commercial areas.

Demolition work has commenced, while the actual construction work will start after the summer holidays. Occupation is scheduled for the second half of 2019. For more information about the project: www.obos.no/vollebekk
