Carrollton, TX – March 28, 2011 - VRM Seeds of Hope, the charitable arm of Carrollton, TX based Vendor Resource Management (VRM), PCV Murcor Real Estate Services and the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) are collaborating on a disaster relief effort to benefit victims of the recent earthquake in Japan.   When VRM Seeds of Hope was founded in 2010 the focus was national, however, its work has been specifically focused in local communities where they service.  But in light of one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent history, VRM Seeds of Hope has seized the opportunity to take its mission global.  When asked about the relief effort Keith D. Murray, President and CEO of VRM and PCV Murcor, stated “one of the tenets of VRM Seeds of Hope is to rejuvenate distressed communities.  The tragic event in Japan gives us the opportunity to do just that.”

Allen Okamoto, Founding Chair of the national organization and San Francisco based AREAA, is equally excited about working with VRM Seeds of Hope.  “When I received the call from VRM expressing an interest in joining with us on this effort I thought it was absolutely wonderful.”   Mr. Okamoto added, “I was elated and thought that it was very appropriate for a real estate-related company to be involved.”

Initially, funds raised from the relief fund will go directly to the Kobe YMCA in Japan.  The Kobe YMCA will serve as a distribution point for getting food, water and clothing to the areas closer to the epicenter.  Mr. Murray and Mr. Okamoto are also both aware of the impact their organizations will have on the rebuilding efforts.  “Many companies will be raising money for food, water and clothing, but eventually homes will need to be rebuilt.  That’s what makes this partnership significant.” said Mr. Okamoto. “ VRM Seeds of Hope will be helping us raise funds to rebuild homes.”   Mr. Murray added, “This effort will provide VRM Seeds of Hope the opportunity to partner with a trade organization that shares our concern for people and the communities in which they live.  As the rebuilding effort begins to take shape, partnerships such as this will be vital to the process.”

VRM Seeds of Hope will be accepting tax deductible donations on behalf of the AREAA Foundation Earthquake Relief Fund from March 21, 2011-April 1, 2011. For more information on VRM Seeds of Hope, AREAA and their partnership, please contact Althea Satterfield White at ASatterfieldwhite@vrmco.com.
