Verallia’s FlexRunSM Service Offers Wineries Customized Bottle Options
New technology allows for production of personalized bottles for limited investment
FAIRFIELD, Calif. – As the leading producer of wine bottles in the U.S., Verallia North America continues to innovate in its service flexibility. Verallia’s FlexRunSM Service, the first of its kind in the North American wine market, provides any winery, large or small, increased flexibility to run specialty bottles with limited investment. Whether adding a customized embossment to a stock bottle or creating an entirely new bottle design, it has never been easier to make shelf impact through custom glass design.
“We are always looking to differentiate and innovate in our products and services we offer the North American wine industry,” said Bob Parise, Vice President, Sales for Verallia’s Wine Sector. “Recognizing the need for personalized bottle options, we invested in new technology at our Seattle plant that allows for the manufacturing of customized bottles at a fraction of the investment previously needed to bring these products to market.”
Verallia’s FlexRun Service provides customers the option to personalize their bottles with in-glass decoration or new bottle shapes while offering flexible production runs and speed-to-market. This new FlexRun technology is a production system unique to the North American wine industry allowing for the production of two different bottles on the same line simultaneously. The system utilizes a “variable weight feeder” which allows for the automated delivery of variable weights of glass gobs to the individual forming sections. Limiting the number of sections required for a production run results in greatly reduced mold equipment costs.
Using this new technology, customers will benefit from a unique service for small or limited series items such as product launches, market tests, limited editions and commemorative bottles. Verallia’s FlexRun Service is an innovative solution for glass wine bottle orders as small as 1,500 cases (9L case equivalent). Working closely with Verallia’s design team, customers have the opportunity to develop customized in-glass decoration including specialty embossments, unique bottle shapes, bottom plate design and a variety of finishes. The service is currently available in four distinct colors - Antique Green, Champagne Green, Dead Leaf Green, and Flint.
