New order derived from Argentinian auction reinforces Vestas’ leadership in the country
Vestas has won a 40 MW order that was awarded as part of Argentina’s RenovAr 1.5 auction. With this new project, Vestas has signed close to 700 MW in Argentina over the past twelve months.
Parques Eólicos Vientos del Sur S.A., a subsidiary of Grupo Frali S.A., has placed an order to Vestas for the supply and installation of 11 V136-3.6 MW wind turbines for La Banderita wind park in the City of General Acha, Province of La Pampa, Argentina. Turbine delivery is planned for the third quarter of 2018 whilst commissioning is expected during the first quarter of 2019.
This will be the first large-scale wind park to be installed in La Pampa, highlighting once more Vestas’ 4 MW platform’s versatiliy, which ensures optimised energy production at any wind site.
As President of Vestas Mediterranean Marco Graziano points out: “We welcome Argentina’s strong bet on the development of wind energy and we are pleased to have taken part in this process since the very beginning. In less than a year, Vestas has consolidated its leadership in the country with orders for close to 700 MW. Almost half of this order intake has derived from the last two RenovAr auctions, showcasing our strengths and capabilities in auctions. This new accomplishment clearly underlines our customers’ trust and confidence in our solutions, people and expertise”.
Vestas has contributed to Argentina’s transition towards renewable energy by putting at its customers’ disposal the company’s capabilities, expertise and financial solutions. Offering its customers a full range of capabilities and services across the value chain has been vital to win orders from the last two energy auctions held in Argentina.
With this new order, Vestas consolidates its leading position in Argentina with a market share close to 45 percent of the 200 MW fleet in operation. “This is the result of the strong partnership attained with our customers both in the RenovAr 1.0 and 1.5 auctions held in 2016, where we have been able to support them in bringing forward projects at a fast and steady pace”, highlights Andrés Gismondi, Sales Director for Vestas Argentina.
