Company announcement No. 48/2007
Vestas receives another order for Spain
Vestas has received an order for 32 units of the V90-2.0 MW wind turbine for two
projects in Spain: 20 units for the Sierra de las Carbas project to be installed
in the province of Zamora, and 12 units for the Sargentes project for the
province of Burgos, both located in the region of Castilla y León. The order
includes supply, installation, commissioning, a VestasOnlineTM Business SCADA
Solution as well as a five-year service contract.
The order has been placed by Urbaenergía S.L., a subsidiary of the ACS/Cobra
Group, which is an important player in the renewable energy industry in the
Spanish market. Urbaenergía S.L., together with EYRA - both subsidiaries of the
same group - are wind project developers and they have already signed three
contracts with Vestas for a total of 130 MW, which will be constructed in 2007
and 2008.
“We are very proud that ACS/Cobra has chosen Vestas as supplier for this wind
power project, which demonstrates their confidence in us and our products,” says
Juan Araluce, President of Vestas Mediterranean A/S, and continues “We look
forward to a long and fruitful cooperation with ACS/Cobra and we are glad to
continue strengthening our position in Castilla y León where Vestas also has two
factories in Villadangos and Ólvega.”
Vestas has already installed 233 turbines in Castilla y León, amounting to a
total of 245 MW. This region has a very strong wind potential and is considered
among the most promising wind regions in Spain.
The Sargentes and the Sierra de las Carbas wind power plants will annually save
the environment from approx 36 and 58 tons of CO2, respectively. The total
production of both wind power plants will provide enough electricity to power
approx 35,200 Spanish households.
Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled to start in September 2008 and March
2009, for the Sargentes and Sierra de las Carbas projects, respectively.
Commissioning is expected in February and September 2009, respectively.
The above order does not affect Vestas' expectations for 2007 and 2008, cf.
Company announcement No. 35/2007 of 6 November 2007.
