Vestas receives order for 66 MW in Italy
Vestas has received a 66 MW order consisting of 31 units of the V90-2.0 MW
turbine and 5 units of the V52-850 kW turbine for the Trapani Salemi project to
be installed in Sicily, Italy. The order comprises supply and installation, a
VestasOnline™ Business SCADA system as well as a five-year service agreement.
The order has been placed by WINDCO Spa, a project company belonging to
Electrabel of the SUEZ Group, one of the largest power players and energy
traders in Europe.
“We are very pleased to receive this new order for Sicily, and we are proud that
we will be working together with a cross-border energy player such as Electrabel
on this project,” says Juan Araluce, President of Vestas Mediterranean A/S. “We
look very much forward to maintaining our business relationship with Electrabel
in the future,” Juan Araluce concludes.
With a total estimated annual production of approx 180 GWh per year, the Trapani
Salemi project will be able to satisfy the electricity needs of 75,000 Italian
households, and will save the environment from almost 82,000 tons of CO2 a year.
Delivery of the project is scheduled to start in December 2008, and the project
will be completed by October 2009.
The above order does not affect the Vestas Group's expectations for 2008, cf.
Company announcement No. 25/2008 of 8 May 2008.
