Vestas has received a 32 MW order from Marhult Vind AB for the Marhult wind project in the Uppvidinge municipality outside Växjö, Sweden.

Octopus Renewables, the fund management specialist which is part of Octopus Energy Group’s generation business, recently acquired the Marhult wind farm from OX2, and they are working together to build and operate it.

The order includes the supply and installation of seven V150-4.5 MW wind turbines, which are planned to be commissioned by the end of 2023. Deliveries at Marhult are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2023.

As part of the Marhult order, Vestas has also secured a long-term Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement to enable power performance certainty and Vestas’ industry-leading service expertise throughout the lifetime of the project.

“Vestas is delighted to continue our collaboration with OX2 and to extend our partnership into Sweden with Octopus Renewables”, said Juan Furones, VP Sales North & West at Vestas Northern and Central Europe. “Not only will Vestas provide its industry-leading onshore technology to the project, but we will also maintain the project for the long-term service term. The trust placed in Vestas by OX2 and Octopus Renewables is not taken for granted and we are pleased to deliver the Marhult project”.

“We are very happy to start construction of the Marhult wind farm and to continue the strong and long-lasting relationship with Vestas”, says Paul Stormoen, CEO, OX2.

Peter Dias, Investment Director at Octopus Renewables added: “This wind farm will play an important role in growing renewable generation in Sweden, a market where we're continuing to expand our footprint. We’re delighted to be working on another project with Vestas, who have provided the turbines to a significant portion of our wind farms and continue to service many of them. We look forward to working together to get this wind farm constructed and into operation so we can help Sweden meet its climate goals”.

In addition to the Marhult project, Vestas has also partnered with OX2 to deliver projects across Sweden, Norway, Finland and Poland, with over 1,600 MW in orders won to date. Vestas is also partnered with OX2 to supply the 86 MW Karskruv project, which is located near the Marhult site.
