Vestas secures 70 MW order in the United States
The firm and unconditional order comprises supply of the wind turbines as well as a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement, a full-scope service package to maximize uptime and performance and energy production. The project, which includes previously purchased PTC components, has a total size of 80 MW and consists of 40 turbines.
Turbine nacelles, blades, and towers will be produced at Vestas’ Colorado factories with delivery expected to begin in the third quarter of 2018.
”Copenhagen is another example of how wind power strengthens America, creates jobs, boosts rural economies, and makes our electricity grid more affordable, reliable and secure.” commented Tristan Grimbert, President and CEO of EDF Renewable Energy. ”The turbine order today demonstrates the strong relationship between EDF and Vestas and the success of our partnership to place more wind energy on the grid.”
The Copenhagen order is part of the previously announced global master supply agreement between Vestas, EDF Énergies Nouvelles and EDF Renewable Energy for deliveries in 2016 to 2019 from Vestas.
“EDF Renewable Energy and Vestas have a strong and successful partnership of over 2 GW and we are honored to add the Copenhagen Wind Project to that portfolio”, said Chris Brown, President of Vestas’ sales and service division in the United States and Canada.
With more than 35 GW installed in 45 countries on six continents since its debut, Vestas’ 2 MW platform is the most widely installed platform in the industry.
