VHA Inc. Announces Marketing Agreement with Care Logistics
VHA Inc., the national health care network, today announced an agreement with Care Logistics. Through this agreement, VHA is offering Care Logistics’ Hospital Operating SystemTM, a logistics-based centralized care coordination model and technology system, to its member hospitals nationwide.
The Hospital Operating System optimizes patient throughput from admissions to discharge, improving care quality and patient satisfaction. The system includes:
- Hub-and-Spoke Care Coordination Model, which redefines roles and processes to ensure that everyone providing patient care does the right, most productive things, at the time across all departments
- Patient Logistics processes and software to help ensure that patients, rooms, beds and transport are always ready
- Order Logistics, which orchestrates on-time diagnostic procedures for all patients across all departments, prioritized to advance care plans and discharge targets
- Demand Logistics to give nurses and staffing teams the tools to easily place patients in beds in appropriately staffed units
- The Physician Rounding app for mobile devices tells rounding physicians who and where their patients are in the hospital, prioritizing based on order and need
“Faced with rising costs and shifts to performance-based payments, hospitals are seeking transformational and sustainable improvements in high reliability operations, efficiency and clinical care quality,” said John Thomas, area senior vice president and executive officer for VHA Inc. “The agreement with Care Logistics will provide our members with innovative care coordination tools that complement the VHA IMPERATIV® solution, an industry-leading operational performance analytics and benchmarking service. When combined, hospitals have performance dashboards that truly enable them to measure the success of hospital-wide operations as well as understand how they are performing relative to their peers.”
“We’re excited about our agreement with VHA and the opportunity to demonstrate to their member hospitals how establishing a logistical control system can orchestrate the key activities and milestones of patient care,” said Karl Straub, president of Care Logistics. “Our experience shows that hospitals adopting our solution transform to more reliable operations, dramatically improving their quality of care and patient satisfaction scores while decreasing average length of stay by half a day or more.”
