  • Ida Elise Broch (‘Home for Christmas’) heads star cast in six-part drama
  • ‘Fenris’ created and directed by Simen Alsvik (‘Ragnarok’; ‘Lilyhammer’)
  • Viaplay to premiere at least 60 Originals in 2022

Ida Elise Broch (‘Home for Christmas’) will star in the latest Norwegian Viaplay Original ‘Fenris’, an intense and atmospheric drama series centered around mysterious disappearances in a remote, wolf-inhabited forest on the Swedish border. Created and directed by award-winning Simen Alsvik (‘Ragnarok’; ‘Lilyhammer’) and with a supporting cast of top Norwegian screen talents, ‘Fenris’ will premiere exclusively on Viaplay in 2022.

When a young boy from a small Norwegian town vanishes, rumours that wolves are responsible immediately swirl. Visiting biologist Emma Salomonsen (Ida Elise Broch) discovers the boy’s bloody jacket in the home of her father Marius (Magnus Krepper: ‘Queen of Hearts’), a controversial wolf researcher – and when Marius too disappears, Emma is forced to rely on her own instincts and understanding of wolves to uncover the dark truth.

Ida Elise Broch: “I was totally engrossed when I first read the script. It was so exciting that I just couldn’t put it down. Emma is an enigma and reminds me a little of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, whom I’ve played on stage: unapproachable and extremely complex.”

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: “In this memorable series, the beautiful Nordic forests become a nightmarish labyrinth as soon as night falls. Likewise, there’s a hidden side to each of the characters. Figuring out who to trust and exactly what happened in ‘Fenris’ will keep Viaplay viewers around the world guessing all the way, and will make the show an intriguing addition to our fast-growing Norwegian slate.”

The six-part series also stars Cengiz Al (‘Three Wishes for Cinderella’), Helena Ødven (‘ZombieLars’), Jan Gunnar Røise (‘Pørni’), Viljar Knutsen Bjaadal (‘Nødt eller sannhet’), Ingjerd Egeberg (‘Downsizing’) and John Emil Jørgensrud (‘Novemberoslo’).

‘Fenris’ is written by Simen Alsvik, Maren Skolem and Nikolaj Scherfig, and produced by Sigurd Mikal Karoliussen, with Sveinung Golimo and Tanya Nanette Badendyck as executive producers for Nordisk Film Production and Viaplay respectively.

Viaplay recently announced the World War II drama ‘Gold Run’ as its first original Norwegian film. Recent Norwegian Viaplay Originals include the hit series ‘Pørni’, ‘Furia’ and ‘Wisting’, which has been shown on the UK’s BBC Four and Sundance Now in the US and acclaimed by The Guardian as “the best Nord-noir ever”.
