Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), the Nordic region’s leading streaming company, will launch action thriller ‘Max Anger’ as its next original production. Based on Martin Österdahl’s bestselling novels about Russia expert and former special ops soldier Max Anger, the eight-episode series will premiere exclusively across the Nordic region on NENT Group's Viaplay streaming service in 2021.

A man scarred by battle and a mysterious past, Max Anger (Adam Lundgren: ‘Chernobyl’) at last has a shot at a peaceful life when he falls for Pashie (Evin Ahmad: ‘Beyond Dreams’), his colleague at Russia-focused think tank Vektor. But when she suddenly disappears, Max is plunged into a world of crime, corruption and international intrigue in St. Petersburg, where the fates of both Pashie and an entire country hang in the balance.

‘Max Anger’ is directed by Lisa Farzaneh (‘Quicksand’) and Jesper W. Nielsen (‘Greyzone’), with Mikael Newihl (NENT Group’s ‘The Lawyer’) as lead writer. The series is produced by Lejla Bešić and Jan Marnell at Nice Drama, a NENT Studios company, and by Twelve Town.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: “Martin Österdahl witnessed history in the making when he lived in Russia during the tumultuous 1990s, and his globally successful books build on his first-hand knowledge of this fascinating country. We have already adapted a number of bestselling Nordic novels into successful streaming series, including most recently Roslund & Hellström’s ‘Box 21’. ‘Max Anger’ gathers some of the Nordic region’s hottest talents and shows once more that we continue to maximise our ambitions for Viaplay.”
