NENT Group orders Swedish feature film ‘Suedi’

  • ‘Suedi’ features all-star Swedish cast led by Kardo Razzazi, Agnes Lindström Bolmgren and Suzanne Reuter
  • Feature film written and directed by Manuel Concha (NENT Group’s ‘Honour’)
  • NENT Group to premiere at least 40 original productions in 2021

The feature film ‘Suedi’ will be the next original production from Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), the Nordic region’s leading streaming company. A wryly humorous take on identity, cultural misunderstandings and the desire to belong, ‘Suedi’ brings together a spectacular cast of Swedish acting heavyweights and will premiere exclusively on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service across the Nordic and Baltic regions in late 2021.

Mahmut (Kardo Razzazi: ‘Peacemaker’; NENT Group’s ‘Honour’) lives in a tough area of Stockholm and has a dream – to be fully accepted as Swedish. And when he unexpectedly finds 30 million kronor, it’s time to cash in. Mahmut changes his name to Sebastian, gets himself a nice house along with a Volvo, and starts wearing stripy socks. Together with Isabelle (Agnes Lindström Bolmgren: ‘The Restaurant’) he begins planning a big wedding – until one day he discovers the banknotes are only valid for two more weeks…

The supporting cast in ‘Suedi’ includes star Swedish names such as Suzanne Reuter, Johan Ulveson, Filip Berg, Ann Petrén, Claes Månsson, Göran Ragnerstam and Christian Hillborg.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: “The talent we’ve assembled on both sides of the camera shows just how high NENT Group is aiming with our next feature film. Most people have never found 30 million kronor in cash, but at some time we’ve all struggled to fit in and live up to expectations. ‘Suedi’ brings a light touch to some heavy topics and can hopefully help us understand each other a little better.”

Kardo Razzazi: “Comedy is a new genre for me but it’s wonderful to take on a lead role that I and so many others can really relate to. I think ‘Suedi’ tells many people’s story.”

‘Suedi’ is written and directed by Manuel Concha (‘Honour’), and is produced by Claudia Galli Concha and Daniel Wagner.

Manuel Concha: “I’m the guy from a tough area who married the girl from a nice part of town, so I know exactly what it’s like to step into an environment where you feel people expect something extra from you. I know how easy it is to put a foot wrong and how many comical situations can arise. I’ve always wanted to make an affectionate comedy about belonging and culture clashes, and I’m very grateful to have the chance to do so with Viaplay and the best of Sweden’s acting talents.”
