NENT Group to launch ‘Kin’ as its next Viaplay Original

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), the Nordic region’s leading streaming company will premiere drama series ‘Kin’ as its next Viaplay Original. The eight episode long series sees Charlie Cox (‘Boardwalk Empire’), Clare Dunne (‘Herself’) and BAFTA nominated actor Aidan Gillen (‘Game of Thrones’) in the leading roles and will premiere on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service in 2021.

The story charts the lives of a fictional Dublin family embroiled in a gangland war and speaks to the enduring unbreakable bonds of blood and family.

‘Kin’ is written by critically acclaimed author Peter McKenna and the impressive cast includes both Irish and international actors led by Charlie Cox (‘Boardwalk Empire’), breakthrough Irish actress Clare Dunne (‘Herself’), Aidan Gillen (‘Game of Thrones’), Ciarán Hinds (‘Game of Thrones’), Sam Keeley (‘The Cured’), Emmett Scanlan (‘Peaky Blinders’), Maria Doyle Kennedy (‘Outlander’) and newcomer Yasmin Seky.

‘Kin’ is produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures, in association with RTÉ, NENT Group and Creative Wealth Media with support from Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI). ‘Kin’ is currently filming in Ireland and is expected to premiere on Viaplay by the end of 2021.

NENT Group is set to premiere at least 40 of its original productions in 2021, and the company is stepping up its investment in international original content. The international Viaplay Originals ‘The Head’ and the ‘The Defeated’ has already premiered on Viaplay and forthcoming international series are ‘The Box’; ‘Close to Me’; ‘The Swarm’; and ‘Margeaux’.

NENT Group’s ‘Wisting’ has been shown on BBC Four and Sundance Now; ‘ALEX’ has been sold in Europe, Asia and the US; ‘Veni Vidi Vici’ has premiered on Hulu and is set for a US remake with Lionsgate; ‘Pros and Cons’ has been picked up by Canal+ and Topic; ‘Honour’ has been sold to RTL and VRT; ‘Those Who Kill’ is available on the BBC and ARTE; and ‘Mia’s Magic Playground’ has launched on Sky Kids.
