  • Lars Mikkelsen (‘The Witcher’) heads star cast in psychological crime series
  • ‘Face to Face’ created and directed by Christoffer Boe (‘A Taste of Hunger’)
  • Viaplay set to premiere at least 70 Originals in 2022

Viaplay has commissioned a third and final season of its acclaimed Danish psychological crime drama ‘Face to Face’. The innovative series is headlined by Hollywood star Lars Mikkelsen (‘The Witcher’; ‘House of Cards’) and each episode offers an intense and visually compelling experience structured around a single conversation. ‘Face to Face’ is created and directed by award-winning Christoffer Boe (‘Warrior’; ‘A Taste of Hunger’) and produced by Miso Film, and the new season will premiere exclusively on Viaplay later this year.

In ‘Face to Face’ (Danish title: ‘Forhøret’), the web of suspects in the murder of Christina Rasmussen stretches from Copenhagen’s underworld to the highest echelons of business and the police. Now, tycoon Holger Lang (Lars Mikkelsen), who had named Christina his heir, receives a video revealing that she was killed by a contract assassin. Consumed by fury, Lang confronts his colleagues, friends and enemies in a desperate bid to uncover the truth once and for all.

Filming has recently started in Copenhagen, and season three will once again feature an all-star Nordic cast, with additional talents to be announced soon. Seasons one and two received eight nominations at the Danish Film Awards.

Christoffer Boe: “Holger Lang is both fascinating and frightening – perfect for a series about murder. When we first met him in season one, he was a potential killer, but this season he will take us all the way to the secrets behind Christina’s death. It’s fantastic to be able to close this story with Lars Mikkelsen in the lead.”

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: “‘Face to Face’ strips Nordic noir down to the essentials – suspense, psychology and style. In doing so, it gives a platform for unforgettable performances and cinematography, and reimagines the entire genre’s possibilities. We can’t wait to bring this final season to audiences and critics alike.”

The eight-episode series is written by Christoffer Boe and Lasse Kyed Rasmussen, and produced by Jonas Allen and Peter Bose for Miso Film and executive produced by Marlene Billie Andreasen for Viaplay. ‘Face to Face’ is distributed internationally by Fremantle.
