Viaplay’s next Original is season two of ‘Threesome’
- London-set young adult series stars Matilda Källström and Simon Lööf, with an international supporting cast
- ‘Threesome’ created by first-time director Lisa Linnertorp (‘The Bridge’)
- Viaplay set to premiere at least 70 Originals in 2022
Viaplay’s critically acclaimed young adult drama ‘Threesome’ will return for a second season in late 2022. The London-set series sees returning stars Matilda Källström (‘Likea’) and Simon Lööf (‘Eagles’) headline an outstanding cast of upcoming international talents. Produced by Yellow Bird, ‘Threesome’ is created by first-time director Lisa Linnertorp, known for on-screen roles in worldwide Nordic hits such as ‘The Bridge’ and ‘The Restaurant’.
The show picks up immediately after the emotionally intense finale to season one, in which Siri (Matilda Källström) and David (Simon Lööf) pushed the boundaries of their relationship by embarking on a threesome with French art student Camille. In season two, the couple’s jealousy, regret and desire continue to build, as they struggle to grasp what the events of one rainy evening mean for their future together.
Lucien Laviscount (‘Emily in Paris’), Kitt Walker (‘Threesome’ season one), Cat White (‘Dracula’) and Emily Renée (‘The Power’) also appear in the eight-part series, which is written by Lisa Linnertorp and Elisabeth Marjanovic Cronvall.
Lisa Linnertorp: “This new season is about breaking up. It deals with leaving and being left by the person you love, and the moment when love is transformed, distorted and no longer conquers everything. I’m looking forward to continuing David and Siri’s journey together with our fantastic team.”
Filippa Wallestam, Viaplay Group Chief Content Officer: “Viewers in every Viaplay market have been so impressed by ‘Threesome’. You feel the pain and passion of the lead characters, and the further they move away from each other, the closer you’re drawn to both. This series is everything a young adult show should be – authentic, edgy and relatable, with an amazing cast of talents set to light up our screens for years to come.”
‘Threesome’ season two is produced by Yellow Bird’s Josephine Wallner, and executive produced by Helena Larand for Viaplay. Eccho Rights handle global distribution.
