Victoria Plumb has nothing to “loos” by supporting World Record Marathon Bid
Victoria Plumb, the UK’s leading online bathroom retailer, is sponsoring London Marathon runner Chris Atkins in his bid to enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest person to run a marathon dressed as a toilet.
Londoner Chris is hoping to raise £2,000 for his chosen charity WaterAid by wearing a toilet costume, in order to increase awareness of people around the world who still lack safe water and sanitation. However, it will be a real “Game of Thrones”, as rival runner Marcus Mumford will also be aiming to set the record. Both runners will need to complete the course in under 4 hours to qualify.
Chris previously held the world record as the fastest person to run a marathon dressed as a dairy product, when he ran the marathon in 2012 in an ice cream tub outfit. However his world record was “whipped” away from him by an American runner in the 2013 Los Angeles Marathon.
Chris says: “It was with considerable sadness that I learned a McDonalds McFlurry had smashed my previous world record time and my title had gone. I was going to have to set a new record. I always wanted to raise money for WaterAid as I think they’re a great charity. They help provide safe, clean water for people that can’t access it. I was thrilled when Victoria Plumb agreed to sponsor me.”
