TRANSATLANTIC: TRANSATLANTIC ACQUIRES VESSELS

Rederi AB Transatlantic has increased its ownership in the container vessels Odin and Frej to 76%. Both vessels were built in 1994 and are 4,500 dwt each.

An agreement has also been reached regarding the purchase of the sister vessel Agila, also 4,530 dwt and built in 1994.

Transatlantic has also increased its ownership in the bulk carriers Andromeda and Capricorn to 54% and 73%, respectively. Both vessels are 6,700 dwt and were constructed in 1999/2000. At the same time, the Group has acquired 100% ownership of the bulk carrier Swing, which is 4,150 dwt.

"The investments are part of our ambition to gain control of the base tonnage we require for our future expansion. The acquisitions will also enable us to reduce our production costs," says Transatlantic's President Håkan Larsson.

Combined, the above investments amount to a total of SEK 120 M.
