Rederi AB Transatlantic has signed a contract with the German shipyard Blohm & Voss Repair GmbH in Hamburg for the lengthening of the three forest-products vessels, m/v Finnwood, m/v Finnpine and m/v Finnfighter.

Consequently, load capacity will increase by approximately 20% and the vessels will have a dead weight of about 18,500 dwt after lengthening.

"We are making this investment to meet increased capacity requirements from several of our major client companies," says Transatlantic's President Håkan Larsson, commenting on the agreement.

"The Group's transatlantic traffic is currently performing well and orders for new vessels for this trade will be made in the next few years," continues Larsson.

The contract value amounts to approximately SEK 150 M and the work will be conducted during the first quarter of 2006.
