Report this content

Through its 50/50 owned company Trans Viking, Rederi AB Transatlantic has signed a shipbuilding agreement with the Spanish shipyard Astilleros Zamakona for two AHTS vessels (19,000 BHP) with an option for a further two vessels. The first vessel will be delivered in the third quarter of 2009, and the second, eight months later.

The vessels are designed to meet future requirements with regard to efficient, safe and environmentally friendly offshore handling throughout the world. In addition, the vessel has been specially equipped to conduct assignments in regions in which ice conditions prevail, such as the Barents Sea.

The vessel orders form a part of Transatlantic's strategy, in which we aim to grow within the offshore operation in Arctic areas.

The investment amount for the two vessels is approximately SEK 965 M.
