TransAtlantic is now undertaking further initiatives to develop its service portfolio, increase sales and strengthen its organization.

Birna Ödefors, currently Managing Director at CMA CGM, has been appointed new CCO of TransAtlantic, effective June 15, 2013. Birna Ödefors has long experience of the shipping industry and her previous positions include that of MD of Samskip.

”It is a great pleasure to welcome Birna to TransAtlantic,” says Helene Mellquist, CEO of TransAtlantic’s  Industrial Shipping business area. “Birna’s background and extensive experience of business development perfectly matches our strategic approach to strengthening our sales efforts and customer focus.”

At the same time, a new customer service center is to be established at the headquarters in Gothenburg and Sara Markenborg, currently Site Manager at the Södertälje office, will take on the role of Customer Service Director. The intention is to close down the office in Södertälje and transfer the operations to TransAtlantic’s offices in Västerås and Gothenburg. Three employees are affected by the changes and negotiations with the Union will start next week.

”This is in line with our growth strategy, in which an increased focus on sales is being combined with cost-saving initiatives,” Heléne Mellquist continues. ”Our market is limited and we mainly operate in and around the Baltic Sea and northern Europe. By concentrating our operations to fewer offices, we can gain greater benefits from our joint forces and enhanced synergy effects that will benefit our customers.”
