Åland attracts international conferences
Åland Convention Bureau (ÅCB) is in its second year of operation and is now launching an interactive website. The website gives a better overall picture of Aland as a conference destination and makes it easier to get in touch with venues and submit an inquiry. On the website you can search conference facilities by entering the number of delegates or the type of seating. The service also includes information about ferry companies operating to Åland so that the conference can be started onboard.

Åland is closer than you think
ÅCB highlights how easily Åland can be visited; there are many ways to travel to Åland, several shipping companies to choose from and airlines offering direct flights from Stockholm, Helsinki and Turku.
-Åland lies close to Arlanda airport, which is a great advantage for us. The transfer from the airport to Åland takes 3 hours, including lunch and the first meeting onboard, says Tiina Björklund, Project Manager at Åland Convention Bureau.
International year 2015
ÅCB has already participated in arrangements of several conferences. So far the largest conference scheduled for 2015 is the international science fiction conference ArchipelagCon held in Mariehamn in June 2015 with approximately 800 participants.
-ArchipelagCon is a fantastic opportunity for Åland to feature internationally. There will be at least 19 different nationalities represented. What’s more, the conference will also be visited by George RR Martin, the creator of “The Game of Thrones” as the Key Note Speaker, says Björklund.
