The 2016 Finnish Football Championship winner IFK Mariehamn is qualifying for the Champions League
IFK Mariehamn playing in the Finnish Premier Division (Veikkausliiga) in Finland has won the gold and become Finnish soccer champion 2016. This is the first time IFK Mariehamn achieves the league championship and it is astonishing as Åland has only 29,000 inhabitants. Altogether 4535 spectators, i.e. a third of Mariehamns population, witnessed IFK securing their first league gold.
