Re-opening of ArkDes in Stockholm
After a reconstruction, ArkDes is preparing to welcome visitors back on June 14th, 2024. The museum's amazing collection, a hidden cultural treasure of four million objects, will finally be open again. The new Gustavianum estimated to open summer 2024, Uppsala
After more than 4 years of renovation the Gustavianum - The University´s house of treasures – will reopen in summer 2024. Gustavianum, Uppsala University’s oldest preserved building, houses a diverse array of historical collections dating back to the university’s founding in 1477. The museums permeant exhibition showcases a fascinating assortment of artifacts including mummies, Viking helmets, ancient coins, and even Celsius´ very own thermometer. The Cell – life science in Hagastaden will open on April 18th, 2024, in Stockholm
The Cell, located on the ground floor of Forskaren within the National Museum of Science and Technology (Tekniska Museet), is a collaborative venture between the museum and Karolinska Institute. Stockholm Design Week from February 5 to 11 2024

Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö & 50th Anniversary of ABBA's Eurovision Song Contest Victory
As nation hosts for the seventh time, the finale of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held in Sweden, at Malmö Arena on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, with Semi-Finals on Tuesday May 7th, and Thursday May 9th. What makes it extra special is that 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of ABBA's epic win in Brighton, where they impressed everyone with "Waterloo" on April 6th, 1974.

Hasslöfestivalen celebrates 25 years 11-13 July in Karlskrona

Reopening of the public sauna at the Jubileumsparken in spring 2024, Gothenburg
The public and free sauna in Jubileumsparken will reopen in the Spring of 2024. The architecturally exceptional sauna, originally a prototype, will be replaced by a permanent sauna, but will retain its unique appearance. It is also possible to swim all year round in the recently opened two saltwater pools in the river next to the sauna. Clarion Hotel Karlatornet opens in spring 2024, Gothenburg
Karlatornet is now the tallest building in Scandinavia with a height of 246 meters and 74 floors. The Fish Church Market Hall, also known as "Feskekörka", reopens after almost four years of renovation. This iconic seafood temple dating back to 1874 houses fishmongers, restaurants, and a bar. Vegetarian options are also available. The Fish Church will be open all year round and there will be outdoor seating in the summer. Tegellådan – Aims to open in 2023 or beginning of 2024
The former boiler room of Gasverket in Norra Djurgårdsstaden will house a restaurant, beer hall and brewery. Tegellådan, run by Lådan, will occupy the 650 square metre space, with a large area for 100 guests and a smaller space for around 30 seated guests. There will also be an outdoor dining area. The aim is to open in 2023, or the beginning of 2024.
Lu – Opening Spring 2024 in Stockholm
Kim Trinh and Luong Lu, mother and son behind the popular Malmö restaurant that received Nöjesguidens Malmöpris for best restaurant in January 2020, are expanding their venture to Södermalm in Stockholm with the opening of Lu on Nytorget in spring 2024. At Lu, the atmosphere is reminiscent of a Chinese family gathering, offering street food from Hong Kong. The menu features spicy dishes with Cantonese flavors, including mapo tofu, grilled duck, and crispy pork belly.

60th Anniversary of the IKEA Hotel in Älmhult
Älmhult, the heart of IKEA, is home to the only IKEA hotel in the world. Here you get a unique experience, where everything revolves around the province of Småland and IKEA. On August 22nd, 1964, there were 25 rooms, a restaurant and a swimming pool in what was then Motel IKEA. Today, almost 60 years later, the Motel IKEA has become the IKEA Hotel, and 25 rooms have become 254. But much remains from 1964 - the copper roof has been converted into the reception and the limestone floor has been preserved. As has the open fireplace in the restaurant. 100th Anniversary of the Tekniska Museet in Stockholm
The Tekniska Museet in Stockholm is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a series of events, both small and large, spanning an extended period. The jubilee was initiated on December 5th with the opening of Wisdome Stockholm by the King of Sweden. For its 100th anniversary, the museum aims to present itself as a new type of institution. While remaining family friendly as always, the museum will now also be open daily from 10 am to 10 pm for events. In April, The Cell in Hagastaden will be opened, followed by a new immersive exhibition about the forest starting in May. With numerous small and large events, one can look forward to a bustling atmosphere at the Tekniska Museet.

40th anniversary of the Tjejmilen run in Stockholm
On August 31, 2024, Tjejmilen will be a proud 40 years old, and this will be celebrated with a spectacular party. As an exclusive event for women, it is one of the largest of its kind in the world. 100th Anniversary of Svenskt Tenn
Svenskt Tenn is an interior design shop located on Strandvägen in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 1924 by Estrid Ericson, who recruited Josef Frank to the company 10 years later. The company is famous for its high-quality and innovative designs in furniture, textiles, lighting, and home accessories. In addition to admiring at and being inspired by the special design of Svenskt Tenn, you can visit their café. Café Svenskt Tenn serves salty, sour and sweet dishes that follow the changing seasons. The dual curling World Championships will take place in Östersund. Twenty teams will compete in the Mixed Doubles World Championship, which has been an Olympic event since 2018. Launch of the new electric ferry by Candela into use as public transport in July 2024, Stockholm
Candela has unveiled the Candela P-12 Shuttle, touted as the world’s fastest, longest-range, and most energy-efficient electric boat. Primarily designed for public transport, this innovative vessel will operate between the Stockholm suburb of Ekerö and the city center, planned for 2024! With a speed of 30 knots, it surpasses other electric boats, offering faster commuting than traditional subway and bus routes. Fårfesten I KIl (The sheep festival)
The 2024 Sheep Festival (Fårfesten) takes place from Thursday, February 29th, to Saturday, March 2nd, at Sannerudsskolan in Kil, Värmland. The whole idea behind the Sheep Festival in Kil is to spread knowledge about sheep and inspire various activities made possible by the sheep industry. Breeders, craftsmen, and raw material processors are present to provide visitors with a comprehensive experience. The Swedish Wool Championship will take place at Fårfesten (Sheep festival) 2024. There will be several international exhibitors, for example Iceland and England. There are visitors from many countries, such as the USA and New Zealand. The fair is considered one of the best in the sheep business. In 2023, over 8,000 people attended the Sheep Festival.

The Land of Legends Storytelling Festival - A Family Storytelling Festival with a Taste of the World
13 – 16 June 2024
Currently the oldest recurring festival in the Nordics. Over four days, the weekend before Midsummer, The Land of Legends is filled with unique storytelling and music programs in both Swedish and English, workshops, and a family festival with tailor-made content for all ages, starting from 0 years.
The festival consists of about seventy programs and as many artists who entertain, touch, and surprise at various places in the region like an ancient homestead, beside a fire in a beech forest, at the enchanted Storytelling Museum, at a legendary Mythical Site, or in a historical venue right in the heart of Ljungby.
The festival has been named the cosiest of them all, in the magical storytelling realm of Småland. Since its inception in 1990, the festival has steadily evolved to become one of the most important meeting places for storytelling enthusiasts from around the world. UNESCO's recognition of the work with oral storytelling also contributes to the lectures and discussions during the festival and is a basis for the many collaborations and networks both locally and internationally.

High Chaparral introduces a new offer in 2024: If it rains too much, you can revisit the park!
High Chaparral, the Wild West theme park in Småland, Sweden, is introducing a rain guarantee for the summer of 2024, allowing guests to return on another day if it rains over 10 mm/m2 between 10:00 and 18:00 on open days. Opening of Maryhill Estate
Countryside bliss with plenty of "cest la vie" vibes - The place where Örenäs Castle is located was once called Maryhill. The story goes that the Lord Mayor August Anderberg bought the plot in 1867 and gave the then-property the name Mariehild after his wife. The next owner, Countess Constance Wachtmeister, French by birth, expanded the park at the end of the 19th century and changed the name to Maryhill. Beautiful, we think. The baroque castle was built in the 1910s by the "Sugar King" Carl Tranchell and his memory will be remembered in the pool club we are building. We say a warm welcome to a new and old story. Open Art – Cultural Event in Örebrö, June 15-September 8, 2024
Open Art is an exhibition that takes place in the city centre of Örebro in Sweden every second summer. Contemporary artworks are displayed outdoors and available for public interaction day and night during the exhibition period. For each edition the festival presents a large number of artists working in a wide variety of art mediums and techniques. The majority of the artworks are sculpture and installations but Open Art welcome artists working in all disciplines, interested in the intersection between art and the public.
The next edition of Open Art will be the 9th, and will take place in June 15-September 8, 2024
