Four family businesses have combined: Wallby Säteri, Trakt Forest Hotel, Outdoor Experience Småland and Cykla i Filmlandskapet ("Cycling through the film landscape").
The package includes overnight stays in three accommodations that show different sides of the region: a historic manor house at Wallby Säteri, a newly built design treehouse at Trakt Forest Hotel and a teepee tent by the lake at Outdoor Experience Småland. There are also activities included such as a hike along particularly picturesque sections of the Smålandsleden trail network and a guided e-bike tour to locations from the Astrid Lindgren films.
"The bike tour is worth it because the dedicated guides are really enthusiastic and knowledgeable," says Sandra Sälleteg from the Trakt Forest Hotel. She also emphasises that the experience package uses carefully selected locations intended to introduce guests to the authentic landscape and flavours typical of the region. The accommodations and activities are no more than 40 kilometres apart. When driving, it is along panoramic winding roads, past farms surrounded by stone walls, through long-tended cultivated landscapes and past ancient meadows and deep forests.
However, not every day is planned. In their 'free time', guests can swim, hike, fish and go on boat trips, or explore local flea markets, country cafés and farm shops, on their own. Recommended excursions in the area include the Norra Kvill National Park, the Virserum Art Gallery, Astrid Lindgren's Birthplace (Astrid Lindgren's Näs), the wooden town of Eksjö and the film village (Filmbyn) in Mariannelund.

The price is from 12,500 SEK per guest for the four-day package (always Thursday to Sunday) or a choose the whole week (Sunday to Saturday; approx. 22,000 SEK per person). Reservations are made through Wallby Säteri.
By the way: No matter where the children want to be picked up from in your nearest IKEA: in Sweden, Småland is pronounced like "Smohland".
Småland is as Swedish as it gets. More information about the region can be found at: https://visitsweden.com/where-to-go/southern-sweden/smaland/
