SAS is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, and embracing technological innovations like electric aircraft for shorter trips plays a crucial role in reaching this goal. The introduction of electric flights represents a significant milestone in SAS's journey towards sustainable aviation. Ever since its establishment in 1946, SAS has been at the forefront of pioneering endeavors in the airline industry. Notably, SAS was the first commercial airline to fly over the North Pole, revolutionizing flight durations between continents and earning the prestigious Columbus Prize.

Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS, expressed enthusiasm about this remarkable development, stating, "The fact that we can now invite our passengers to the next major milestone in the future of aviation is a natural continuation of that pioneering spirit and a significant step on our journey towards more sustainable aviation."

To commemorate the inaugural flight, the ticket price will be 1946 SEK (approx. $179) paying tribute to the year when SAS first began operating. Reservations can be made starting from June 2 at 6 am (US Eastern time) at flysas.com/electric.

Sweden's government's goal is to achieve net-zero emissions for domestic air transport by 2030. By 2045, the objective is to ensure that all international flights operating from Sweden maintain net-zero emissions.
