    High growth and improved operating marginFourth quarter Continuing operations: · Sales growth was 24 percent in local currency. Sales amounted to SEK 98 (82) million, corresponding to an increase of 20 percent in SEK. · Operating income (EBIT) amounted to SEK 12 (2) million, corresponding to an operating margin of 12 (2) percent. · On October 1 the transplantation business was distributed to the shareholders of Vitrolife, and it is thus reported in this interim report as discontinued operations.     Shares in Xvivo Perfusion AB will begin trading on NASDAQ OMX First North on October 8, 2012

    Xvivo Perfusion AB was spun off from Vitrolife AB on October 1, whereby Vitrolife shareholders received one share in Xvivo Perfusion for each share in Vitrolife. Xvivo Perfusion shares have been approved for trade on NASDAQ OMX First North and the first day for trade will be October 8. In view of the listing on First North, Xvivo Perfusion is today publishing a company description that is available on the company’s website.     In accordance with the resolution adopted by the Extraordinary General Meeting of shareholders held on September 24, Vitrolife’s transplantation business, which is run in the subsidiary Xvivo Perfusion AB (”Xvivo”) and its subsidiaries, will be spun off to the shareholders through distribution of the shares in Xvivo in accordance with “Lex Asea”.The resolution means that the Vitrolife shareholders will automatically receive one share in Xvivo for each share that they own in Vitrolife.     Vitrolife's subsidiary in the USA has been sued

    Vitrolife’s subsidiary in the U.S.A., Vitrolife, Inc, has together with Southwest Transplant Alliance and University of Texas been sued for compensation by relatives to a patient who diseased after a lung transplantation in 2010.Vitrolife’s product for organ preservation (Perfadex) is claimed to have been used before the transplantation. Any number to the size of the claim has not been put forward. Perfadex is an organ preservation solution that has been cleared by the FDA for the US market since 2001 and has to date been used in thousands of lung transplantations. July 31, 2012

    Application for market approval of STEEN Solution™ in the USA has been submitted to the FDA

    Vitrolife has submitted an application to the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding market approval of STEEN Solution™, a product used for cleansing and evaluation of lungs outside the body (ex vivo) before transplantation.The application was based on successful results from the clinical trial that Vitrolife is conducting in the USA with STEEN Solution™. This new innovative method has been shown to enable that those lungs that previously had been deemed not usable, were usable after performing perfusion with STEEN Solution™ when the organ was taken out of the donor’s body.

    All patients included in the clinical study on STEEN Solution™ in the USA

    In the clinical study that was begun during 2011 on STEEN Solution™ with the aim of forming a basis for sales approval in the USA, a total of 13 patients have now received transplants.     Xvivo to be a more independent unit within Vitrolife

    Vitrolife’s subsidiary Xvivo, with business activities within the organ transplant area, is in an intensive and exciting development phase which now requires greater focus, and will thus become a more independent unit within the Vitrolife Group.
