Bergen, Norway, June 04, 2013, Vizrt Ltd. (Oslo Main List: VIZ)

Vizrt Ltd. announced today a deal worth USD 1,8 million for the implementation of a radically new workflow for Swiss-based RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera. The new workflow incorporates media asset management (MAM), online and broadcast graphics components.

The deal includes a set of tools that allows RSI to manage all of their content online. This includes the Vizrt Online Suite as a front-end content management system (CMS) and back-end engine for running the website www.rsi.ch/. The Viz Media Engine online package will give the broadcaster a way of managing all their video content that is to be published online and to multiple devices. Viz Engine was added to provide an enhanced graphics experience on the website, be it for static elements or rebranded video content. The journalists will be using Viz Reporter, which allows them to capture high quality video content with metadata on their mobile phones and send it directly to the Viz Media Engine. All these tools combined give the editorial staff an easy and efficient workflow for creating stories, editing and adding graphics and video from within the CMS, then publishing this content on multiple platforms.

RSI is a Swiss public broadcasting organization that handles production and broadcasting of radio and television programs for the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. In 2012, they began searching for a replacement to their online and broadcast graphic systems that had been developed mostly internally.
“Vizrt was a simple choice for us,” said Roberto Pomari, Head of Business Development RSI. “The logic behind the Vizrt Online Suite, including the Widget Framework, was key in that it matched our specific needs. We have had a great relationship with Vizrt in the past. Marco Emilitri (Vizrt Sales Manager Italy) and his team were very professional and knew the market. They collaborated closely with us to establish a technology roadmap to best accomplish our objectives and grow in the future.”

Stefanie Verzasconi, Head of the Communication Department and Spokeswoman for RSI, added “We were really looking for a partner, not just a supplier, and Vizrt is able to not only provide hardware and software, but delivers a truly comprehensive workflow solution with the capacity to evolve in line with our development.”

“Vizrt is very pleased to provide RSI with a solution that is versatile and allows them to leverage the Vizrt Broadcast Graphics workflows already in place with their sister broadcasters RTS and RTR,” said Francois Laborie, Vizrt Chief Commercial Officer. “The close relationship between our companies will result in a new online experience for the RSI viewers that is sure to define how online workflows are created in the future.”

The deal represents the technology element in RSI’s strategy to attract and captivate new audiences.  The Broadcaster intends to enhance its branding in order to be able to grow its share of, in particular, the younger audience. In the future, the Company plans to enhance the viewer experience further with interactive capabilities, including social media integration, creating a two way conversation between RSI and its audience.
