Voi Technology appoints new Head of Sustainability
Swedish-founded Voi Technology, a leading micromobility operator in Europe, announces the appointment of Åsa Christiander, a seasoned sustainability expert, as its new Head of Sustainability.
Christiander will lead Voi’s sustainability initiatives, advancing the company’s commitment to creating cleaner, more sustainable towns and cities across Europe. With a wealth of experience from roles at Material Economics, McKinsey & Co, and ASSA ABLOY, she brings unique expertise in sustainability strategies, climate transition and innovation-driven change.
Most recently, Christiander comes from McKinsey/Material Economics, where she worked on sustainability strategies, and climate transition planning for industries and cities. She has also spent 17 years at ASSA ABLOY in various roles, including VP of Strategic Initiatives (bridging technology and business aspects) and Innovation Acceleration, where she spearheaded the company’s innovation efficiency. Her background in global product development, innovation, and product management equips her with the experience to bridge the gap between sustainability and business, ensuring practical implementation and profitability.
As part of Voi’s Market Development team, Christiander will collaborate across product development, partnerships, operations, and policy. This strategic placement ensures that sustainability is embedded in Voi’s core business, aligning environmental goals with growth.
Becoming the first fully circular electric vehicle operator
Under Åsa Christiander’s leadership, Voi will accelerate its efforts to achieve the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s first fully circular electric vehicle provider. This means rethinking every aspect of the lifecycle - from design and manufacturing to maintenance, reuse, and recycling - ensuring that each component can be repurposed or returned to the supply chain.
“I’m excited to join Voi at such a crucial time in its sustainability journey. Voi has shown a clear commitment to transform urban mobility, and I look forward to building on this momentum to push sustainability for even more impactful change,” said Åsa Christiander, Head of Sustainability at Voi.
“We are delighted to welcome Åsa to our team. Her expertise in climate transition and innovation, along with her visionary, yet practical approach, will be key to advancing our environmental goals. With Åsa at the helm, we are confident that Voi will set a new standard for sustainability in the broader electric vehicle industry,” said Fredrik Hjelm, CEO and co-founder of Voi.
