Volvo Buses has announced the appointment of Nick Page as Managing Director of Volvo Bus in the UK and Ireland.

Nick Page has been with the Volvo Group for 17 years. He held key roles in Volvo’s UK truck and finance businesses before joining Volvo Bus in 2001, where he currently holds the position of Coach Sales Director. Nick Page succeeds Steve Dewhurst, who retires at the end of February.

Commenting on the announcement, Senior Vice President, Business Region Europe, Noël Reculet said:
“As a key member of the Volvo Bus Executive Team in the UK, Nick Page has been actively involved in setting the strategy and vision for the company through to 2020. He brings to his new role a vast amount of industry experience and knowledge and is ideally placed to continue the development of the Volvo bus and coach brand in the UK and Ireland markets.”

Nick Page commented “Volvo has a long history and tradition on these shores and I am honoured to be entrusted with the task of helping to write the next chapter of that story. We have a strong product range and an excellent team - both at Warwick and right across the Volvo dealer network.”

Volvo Bus is a major player in the UK bus market, which in 2012 had just over 3,000 full sized heavy buses and around 650 heavy coaches. One of Nick Page's goals will be to continue the momentum which has already been built with Volvo’s hybrid bus integration. 164 B5L hybrid buses have been delivered in the UK already, with a further 250 Wrightbus bodied vehicles on order. Volvo has also sold 39 of the Volvo 7900 single deck hybrid in the UK, emphasising the potential for further growth in this market.  In total, Volvo Buses has sold nearly 1,000 hybrid buses to 20 countries.
