Volvo Car USA reports fourth quarter and full-year 2025 sales, achieving best sales year ever for XC90
Volvo Car USA reported sales of 121,607 vehicles for the full year 2025 in the United States, down 2.9 percent year over year. Electrified vehicles, defined as vehicles with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain, declined 22.9 percent compared to 2024 and accounted for 27.2 percent of total U.S. sales for the year. However, sales of fully electric vehicles increased 91 percent compared to 2024, reflecting momentum in the company’s EX90 and EX30 models.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, Volvo Car USA sold 30,906 vehicles, down 13.4 percent compared with the same period last year. Electrified vehicles represented 16.8 percent of fourth quarter sales, a decrease of 60.5 percent year over year, primarily due to the impact from the removal of tax incentives on fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars. Sales in the United States increased by 1 percent in December, totaling 14,193 vehicles.
U.S. model performance highlights:
- Volvo XC90: 40,217 vehicles sold in 2025, up 2 percent year over year, achieving the highest annual U.S. sales total in the model’s history.
- Volvo XC60: 41,105 vehicles sold in 2025, up 6 percent year over year, making it the brand’s top-selling model in the United States and marking the second-best sales year for the XC60 following its record performance in 2021.
- Volvo EX90: 3,913 vehicles sold in 2025, up 356 percent year over year, with December being its best month yet with 614 vehicles.
- Volvo EX30: 5,409 vehicles sold in 2025, up 2,154 percent year over year.
“In 2025, we celebrated 70 years of Volvo Cars in the U.S. while taking significant actions to strengthen our business for the future, with a focus on meeting U.S. consumer needs, shifting more manufacturing to the U.S., and investing in our brand to reach new customers,” said Luis Rezende, President, Volvo Car Americas. “Despite a challenging market, we ended 2025 with a record sales year for the XC90, momentum in fully electric sales, and a strong close of the year to take us into 2026.”
