Wärtsilä ANCS NACOS bridge console system wins Red Dot product design award

Technology group Wärtsilä ANCS’s NACOS Bridge Console System has been announced as the winner of the Red Dot 2023 Award for product design. The modular designed system features touch-screen operation, with adjustable height modules operated by motorised actuators. Its flexibility allows easier navigation and control for bridge personnel.

In announcing the award, the Red Dot jury remarked: “Wärtsilä's solution establishes new standards in terms of user-friendliness, scalability, flexibility, and hardware and software integration.”

The Red Dot Award, administered by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany, is a prestigious international design competition with three disciplines: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. Each year, over 20,000 design professionals, companies, and organizations from 60+ countries/areas participate in this renowned competition.

The award was presented at the Red Dot Gala on June 19, 2023, in Essen, Germany. The NACOS bridge console design will be featured in the "Milestones in Contemporary Design" exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum from June 2023 to May 2024.
