BBQs and morning dress at Warwick Racecourse

Race goers are in for a treat this June at Warwick Racecourse as the historic site hosts two race meetings just days apart and with very different themes.

BBQ Sausage Night – which also features the ‘Warwickshire Oaks’ listed race – takes place on the evening of Monday 17th, while Alternative Ascot is held on Thursday 20th and boasts seven fantastic flat races plus all the racing live from Ascot on a big screen.

Huw Williams, general manager, Warwick Racecourse, said: “The beauty of horse racing is being able to hold two completely different themed race meetings just days apart.

“BBQ Sausage night offers the perfect excuse to come to the races after a long Monday at work, while at our Alternative Ascot you can enjoy the turf action at Warwick while also watching the live racing from Ascot, so you won’t miss a thing.”

Gates open for BBQ Sausage Night on Monday 17th at 4.20pm, with the first of six races at 6.20pm. As well as the racing, there will be the chance to taste a range of meaty morsels and help identify Warwick’s ‘sausage of the year 2013’.

Meanwhile, Alternative Ascot is a great reason to don morning dress – in fact, there’s a free Pimms reception for the first 100 through the gates in full morning attire!

There’s also the opportunity for one lucky couple in morning dress to be crowned ‘King and Queen’ of Warwick Racecourse for the day with a prize package including a three course meal in the course’s 1707 Restaurant on the day or at a future fixture, plus the chance to select a best turned out horse and present mementos to some of the winning owners.

In addition, the winners will receive a pair of tickets for next year’s Gold Cup raceday at the Cheltenham Festival and two tickets for the remainder of Warwick’s Fabulous Five summer season race meetings (which also include the Eternal Stakes Raceday on 27th June, Ladies Day on 5th July and Gentlemen’s Day on 11th July).

Gates open for Alternative Ascot on Thursday 20th at 12.20pm with the first race at 2.20pm.

Tickets for both meeting cans be booked in advance by calling 08445 793 013 or visiting www.warwickracecourse.co.uk. Tickets are also available on the day.
