Bronx, NY, February 9, 2012— Warm body and soul at this workshop with tea connoisseur Linda Villano of SerendipiTea. Come discover a great variety of types and styles of tea from many different countries, experiencing the main categories of tea by seeing, touching, smelling and tasting. And you'll learn about different steeping methods, including water temperature, ratios and timing. Participants receive tea samples and a complimentary copy of the book SerendipiTea: A Guide to the Varieties, Origins, and Rituals of Tea by Tomislav Podreka, co-founder of SerendipiTea

A 28-acre public garden and cultural center overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades, Wave Hill’s mission is to celebrate the artistry and legacy of its gardens and landscapes, to preserve its magnificent views, and to explore human connections to the natural world through programs in horticulture, education and the arts.                                      

Hours:             Open all year, TuesdaySunday and many major holidays: 9am4:30pm. Closes 5:30pm, April 15–October 14

Admission:      $8 adults, $4 students & seniors 65+, $2 children 618. Free Tuesday, Saturday until noon in February. Free to Members, children under 6

Directions:      Getting here is easy! Located only 30 minutes from midtown Manhattan, Wave Hill’s free shuttle van transport you to and from our front gate and Metro-North’s Riverdale station, the W. 242 St. stop on the #1 subway line, and to and from our free offsite parking lot. Mark Twain leased the estate from 1901-1903, setting up a treehouse parlor in the branches of a chestnut tree on the lawn. Of winter at Wave Hill he wrote, I believe we have the noblest roaring blasts here I have ever known on land; they sing their hoarse song through the big tree-tops with a splendid energy that thrills me and stirs me and uplifts me and makes me want to live always.

Theodore Roosevelt's family rented Wave Hill during the summers of 1870 and ‘71, when the future president was a youth of 12 and 13. Teddy's time here significantly deepened his love of nature and love of the outdoors that would later prompt him to secure the preservation of millions of acres of American parkland.
