Press release 16 June 2022

Through its long-standing partner, NetNordic Sweden, Waystream has signed a multi-year agreement with Pingday (formerly Öresundskraft). The agreement is in the MSEK 10 range, and involves the replacement and modernisation of existing access equipment over three to five years.

Pingday, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Öresundskraft AB and the City of Helsingborg, operates, among other things, the Open City Network, the fibre network, the City Hub for IoT, and several operator hotels. The ambition is high: to become Europe's leading regional city network! In this regard, Pingday sees Waystream as a secure partner for the delivery of future-proof equipment.

“We have great confidence in Waystream's accesswitches. Waystream's switches have a good service life, but the network needs to be upgraded on an ongoing basis. We are now going to exchange, over a period of time, the switches for Waystream's new series of products, for both copper and fibre networks, ”says Niklas Pettersson, Head of Technology at Pingday AB.

Replacing copper distribution networks with fibre is both time-consuming and costly, and also results in temporary downtimes for end customers. Through Waystream's new accesswitches for copper networks, property owners, operators, and city networks can postpone exchanges of their stock and only replace them when faster switches are needed. All switches are backwards compatible with existing equipment, which enables easy installation.

“Waystream's products have good technical functions, they are affordable and future-proof. As the demands on the networks increase and more and more end up in the cloud, equipment is required that can meet the new complex requirements. Together with Waystream, we will ensure that the residents in the region obtain an even more robust and faster connection,” says Niklas Pettersson.

“Pingday has been a customer of Waystream for over 15 years. We are very happy that they continue to trust us. It is also great to secure such a large agreement regarding our new series of copper switches for apartment buildings in city networks. Together with NetNordic, which is a highly valued partner for us, we can now contribute to Pingday building the best possible network for households and business premises,” says Fredrik Lundberg, CEO of Waystream.
