Waystream and NetNordic win Homenet order in Norway
Waystream, who develops and sells advanced digital infrastructure such as switches and routers for fiber-based broadband networks, has with Norwegian partner NetNordic Solutions, won an order for access equipment worth 1 million SEK from broadband provider Homenet.
Homenet is fokused on the consumer market and ties together over 55,000 customers in more than 90 regions from north to south Norway. Homenet is owned by Broadnet AS, Norway’s leading provider of fiber based datacommunications for businesses. As their expansion of fiber networks continues with upgrades to existing networks, Homenet has selected Waystream’s ASR6000 switch and SFP media converters. Waystream will immediately ship the equipment.
– Homenet is a large and loyal customer for us and we are obviously very happy that they continue to invest in the rollout of their fiber networks using our products. Together with our partner Netnordic, we will ensure that Homenet can continue to deliver fast broadband with the best customer experience to their customers in Norway, says Johnny Hedlund, Waystream CEO.
In Europe, the market for fiber is expected to double in the coming years and the 31 million new connections in 2016 is expected to reach 62 million within the next 4 years. This means that almost 20% of homes in Europe will be connected to fiber networks (FTTB/FTTH) by 2019(1)
