Waystream wins two new deals in Denmark totalling 3.3 MSEK
Waystream, who designs and sells advanced digital infrastructure, including switches and routers for fiber-based broadband networks, has together with its partner Conscia A/S won two orders in Denmark totaling 3.3 million SEK.
The new orders include the access equipment ASR6000 for existing customers Energi Fyn Bredband and Fibia. The products will be shipped immediately and will be used in the companies’ rollout of new fiber networks.
With more than 120,000 subscribers, Fibia and EnergiFyn Fibernet are leading vendors of fiber networks in Själland and Fyn.
– “It is extremely satisfying that both EneriFyn Fibernet and Fibia, two dominant players in the Danish fiber networking market, are continuing to order our products. For us, this is a confirmation that Waystream’s products hold a high quality that meets the end users’ needs, which also means that, together our partner Conscia, we can continue to capitalize on the fast growth in the Danish market”, says Johnny Hedlund, CEO at Waystream.
Fiber networking is the fastest growing broadband technology in Denmark. During 2015, the total number of broadband subscribers using fiber grew nationally by 13.5% which is equivalent to approximately 54,000 new fiber subscribers. Statistics from the Danish Energy Board indicates that there is a strong growth in the demand for faster connections and data transfer rates at a national level in Denmark. [1]
In the coming years, the fiber market is expected to double in Europe and the 35.9 million new connections during 2015 is expected to approach 62 million in the next 2 years. This means that almost 20% of households in Europe will be connected to fiber networks by 2019 (FTTH/FTTB) [2].
