Waystream wins two new deals totalling 3.8 MSEK
Waystream, who develops and sells advanced digital infrastructure equipment, such as switches and routers for fiber-based broadband networks, has won two orders for access equipment. The total value for the orders is 3.8 million SEK and the products will be shipped to customers in Denmark and Sweden.
In Sweden, the current customer Öresundskraft AB has chosen to use Waystream’s ASR6000, a Layer 3 GigabitEthernet access switch, for new rollout of fiber networks. Waystream has won this deal together with partner NetNordic AB and the access products will be shipped during February 2017.
In Denmark, Fibia, one of Denmark’s biggest suppliers of broadband over fiber, has also selected the ASR6000 via the Danish partner Conscia A/S. The access equipment will be used to upgrade from FastEthernet to GigabitEthernet linespeed, which involves replacing a number of Waystream ASR5000 switches to the new and improved ASR6000 product. The access products will be also be shipped during February.

Fiber networking is the fastest growing broadband technology I both Sweden and Denmark. According to a report1 from the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), the number of fiber broadband subsciptions in Sweden increased by 17%, or 262,000 subscriptions.
A report2 from Denmark’s Energy Agency, stated that the total number of fiber broadband subscribers increased by 15.4% from June 2015 to June 2016, which equals 65,000 new fiber subscribers. The total number of fiber subscribers in June 2016 was approximately 485,000.
