You will not be surprised to hear that GeoInt is no longer a “geo specialist to geo specialist” game. Geo capabilities are now penetrating all parts of the defence and security community.

Why? The simple answer lies in the changing nature of warfare and anti-terrorism operations around the world. Winning battles no longer wins wars. Fire power is not the factor achieving results for soldiers in-theatre. It is intelligence, knowledge, analysis and timely data that are saving lives, stopping disasters from happening, and building new democratic governments around the world.

This is why every part of every defence and government organisation is now seriously looking into fully enabling GIS capabilities within its operational infrastructure. From Command & Control, to logistics and purchasing, from generals to soldiers, GeoInt has become the core and the basis of all intelligence and decision-making.

Over 650 senior defence and security executives from over 45 countries are meeting at the 8th annual Defence Geospatial Intelligence (DGI) 2012 conference and exhibition in Westminster, London, to discuss the future role of GeoInt in their organisations, to debate new strategies, to debate future collaboration plans, and to find solutions to their current Geo challenges.
