Ford Otosan started production in 1965, with each company holding a 41% share in the venture. It operates four facilities inTurkey, two in Kocaeli, one inEskisehirand one inIstanbul.

Kocaeli Plant is a joint venture between Ford Motor Company & Koç Holding with equal ownership as 41%.

Ford Production System established within the framework of principles, with a high level of automation and an integrated production centre supported by the Center Material Management System.

The sea front location covers 1,600,000 m2; exporting leading models such as the Transit & Transit Connect to 65 different countries, making Ford OtosanTurkey’s 3rdlargest export company in 2010. And output from Koceali is only set to increase.

Estimates demonstrate that the Ford Otosan Kocaeli plant will produce 292,000 units in 2011, up an impressive 21% from 2010. And this growth in capacity is set to continue with targets of 400,000 units per year announced last month funded by an increased investment of $300 million this year. This growth plan will be addressed at AutoTurkey, the premier Turkish automotive conference.
