Wellspect HealthCare, a subsidiary of Dentsply Sirona, released today its annual Sustainability Report for 2023. The report details progress in the key focus areas that drive Wellspect’s sustainability strategy while singling out impact areas and current challenges.

The most significant environmental achievement referenced in the report is the accumulative reductions in CO2e which total a 29% reduction of direct emissions and indirect energy related GHG (Green House Gas) emissions, compared to the 2021 baseline. The increase of the recycling ratio of the production scrap by 30% is secondary to that. When it comes to workplace safety, Wellspect prides itself on not having registered a single recordable accident at its manufacturing sites in 2023.

“The KPIs and the initiatives highlighted in the report, convey the progress we’ve achieved working with our customers and suppliers in support of our vision of making a real difference. I take pride in this progress and in the positive impact we have had on our industry by introducing the use of renewable plastic into our Lofric Elle catheter.” Says Chris Schlenk, Group Vice President at Wellspect HealthCare.

With Wellspect having completed its transition into renewable electricity early 2023, the organization is currently focused on introducing incremental changes across multiple areas to further reduce its emissions. Such changes include increasing energy efficiency across its sites, reducing its production scrap and substituting materials and machinery with more sustainable versions.

“Sustainability is integrated into our business strategy. It is essential to drive long-term business growth and to bring value to our stakeholders. It is good for the planet, and it is good for the business.” Concludes Chris Schlenk.

More details in relation to the various initiatives and measures launched under each focus area (Reduced environmental footprint; Good health and well-being; Safe, committed and inspiring workplace) can be found in the Sustainability Report, which is available here in English.
