Wellspect has strengthened its position on the list compared to last year -acknowledging the company’s continued progress in reducing emissions and advancing environmental accountability across its operations.

“This recognition reflects a clear direction for Wellspect - one where clinical performance and environmental responsibility go hand in hand,” said Chris Schlenk, Group Vice President, Wellspect HealthCare. “Sustainability is a commitment we embed in every part of our value chain - from how we produce our products to how we deliver them. Being named a European Climate Leader validates the hard work of our teams and partners.”

Wellspect has successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions from both its own operations and the energy it consumes. In addition, the company’s short- and long-term emissions reduction targets - covering both direct and indirect emissions—have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a key factor in this year’s improved ranking.

Key areas of focus for the continued work include:

  • Reducing emissions from chemicals used in production
  • Lowering transport-related emissions
  • Increasing energy efficiency and expanding the use of alternative energy sources
  • Deepening collaboration with suppliers to strengthen climate action throughout the value chain

Wellspect aims to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. This recognition reaffirms the company’s long-term ambition: to be a trusted leader in healthcare by delivering solutions that are both clinically effective and developed with a lower environmental impact.
