SALUS PIONEERS ZIGBEE TECHNOLOGY IN UFH CONTROLS

Report this content

Pioneering manufacturer, Salus, has once again sparked a design revolution in the UK heating controls market with the introduction of wireless ZigBee technology to its latest range of underfloor heating controls. Zigbee is a wireless technology developed as a global standard to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless M2M networks. Widely adopted in home automation, ZigBee communicates data via different appliances in the same environment and until now, has never before been incorporated into heating controls in the UK. In the case of heating control thermostats, ZigBee technology enables a room thermostat to communicate with the boiler, regardless of range, as other appliances such as fridges, TV and radio can help forward the signal. Zigbee has a low power consumption and can run for years on inexpensive batteries. Managing Director at Salus, Dean Jepson comments: “ZigBee technology is the only wireless control technology that offers product manufacturers and developers the ability to build reliable, cost effective, low-power wireless control products.” /Cont… Page 2/3 SAPR05.10 Dean continues: “Salus is proud to introduce ZigBee technology into its range of UFH controls, especially at a time when many companies have abandoned their R&D budgets. Salus is committed to investing significantly in developing products that will take heating controls to a new level.” ZigBee is incorporated into Salus’ new ERT30RF digital and ERT50RF programmable UFH thermostats. Designed to provide a primary UFH solution or an extension to an existing heating system, these controls are suitable for both wet and electric systems and boast optimum performance with ease of operation and installation. Comprising a two-unit system with a Control Centre and Receiver, these models combine the functions of both a room thermostat and a heating control and utilising Zigbee technology can be placed almost anywhere in the home. Also featuring ZigBee technology is the wiring centre (KL06) - a simple yet sophisticated plug-in system that enables up to six thermostats and 24 actuator units to be connected. /Cont… Page 3/3 SAPR05.10 All products are available via the company’s nationwide network of wholesalers and distributors.
