WHALE HELPS DRAIN CONTROL SHOW ITS TRUE COLOURS

Attention to detail epitomises Whale Tankers, the all-important last few microns of body paint being perceived as crucial as a tanker’s bodywork and associated mounting equipment and componentry. Take the new high volume JETVac tanker of Drain Control – one of the UK’s leading privately owned drainage specialists – which features the company’s striking, vibrant and highly visible reflex fluorescent orange livery. In order to create the precise colour saturation required by the client, Whale Tankers’ paintshop team set to work applying a total of 10 coats of paint and two of finished lacquer. As Whale Tankers’ Managing Director, Mark Warmington states: “Drain Control’s new JETVac demonstrates the lengths we as a manufacturer will go to ensure that the finished product meets the customer’s often exacting requirements. We appreciate how passionate Drain Control is about maximising the impact of its show stopping corporate identity and the precision applied to the paint finish in this instance supports this.” To provide the required colour density and to help minimise UV degradation, Whale’s 10 coat paint process involved the application of two base coats of primer and white to the JETVacs carbon steel manufactured 3000 gallon capacity tipping tank, before adding a further six coats of the reflex fluorescent orange and the two lacquer top coats. Representing the fourth tanker to join Drain Controls 40 strong fleet – all of which are Whale - the new JETVac will operate on behalf of a number of customers contracts, including a new four year deal that Drain Control has recently secured with a South East local authority. Equipped with DAF’s CF75.360 6 x 2, 26-tonne rear lift and steer chassis, the JETVac features a high pressure water jetting system, a Pratissoli MS50 high pressure pump delivering 58 gallons per minute at 2000psi. Featuring Whale’s safe start-up on both the main self-aligning hydraulically-operated and manually-operated second hose reel, the JETVac also provides impressive vacuum capability, courtesy of a Mistral 701 series exhauster/compressor. Additionally, this latest Whale Tanker for Drain Control features full length, extra deep and lockable hose boxes to each side of the vehicle, storage for road signs and Chapter 8 boards, two stainless steel tool lockers and a clothes locker for the protection of PPE equipment. Commenting on the decision to specify this latest Whale, Drain Control’s Bill Steans said: “Customers rightly expect us to support their requirements by deploying the very latest equipment and the decision to bolster the strength of our tanker fleet reflects this.
