Shadow Energy Secretary, Caroline Flint, accompanied Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls on a visit to a local gas boiler company - Ravenheat - in his local constituency of Morley and Outwood to discuss energy savings. The visit took place on Friday 6th December 2013.

At Ravenheat, the MPs met with Louis Pickersgill, Founder and Managing Director of the independent boiler manufacturer that was established in 1987. As well as being shown Ravenheat’s latest energy efficient gas boilers, the MPs also joined a gas boiler training session for heating installers.

Ed Balls MP said: “Faced with a real cost of living crisis, working families are on average £1,600 worse off than in 2010. Prices are set to rise faster than wages until 2015 and, faced with rising energy bills, we need to do more to support people trying to make ends meet over the winter months. I’m proud that here in my constituency, Ravenheat, a local Morley company, are doing their bit to support households who want to make their home heating system more efficient by upgrading their boiler and saving money on running costs.”

Shadow Energy Secretary, Caroline Flint said: “Yesterday we saw the Chancellor let the energy companies off scot-free. There was no announcement of reforms to the energy market and they have again ignored Labour’s call for a price freeze to help customers. Energy efficiency is a really important way for people to reduce their energy bills and it’s encouraging to see the work that firms like Ravenheat are doing to help make that happen.”

Ravenheat’s pioneering and award-winning flue heat recovery system, Energycatcher™ can help reduce home heating bills further and by up to 52%. A small unit that simply integrates on the top of the boiler, Energycatcher™ cleverly uses latent heat that is normally lost from a condensing boiler to help heat the domestic hot water supply.
