COMMERCIAL CHANNEL DEFENDS DEVON DRIVEWAY
Flexseal’s commercial channel drainage product has been used to divert water away from a home in Devon.
The property was suffering disruption caused by water flowing down the driveway and pooling outside, despite a channel drain already being in position. The homeowners contacted local company EWF Property Maintenance to look into the issue.
Andy Willday of EWF Property Maintenance explains, “It was clear that the channel drain at the top of the driveway couldn’t cope with the volume of water the property was now experiencing. It’s not surprising given the exceptional level of rain this winter. The homeowners desperately wanted to solve the problem, but they didn’t know how.”
Andy contacted Flexseal’s local Area Sales Manager, John Bennison, for advice on the best product to install to combat the issue. “Andy and I visited the property to understand the exact nature of the problem,” explained John. “We saw that a larger channel would resolve the issues the property owner was facing. Although our domestic StormDrain Plus range covers most domestic channel drain needs, this situation called for a wider channel to cope with the high level of water flow.”
John specified the largest channel from Flexseal’s commercial channel drainage range, with a flow capacity in excess of 40 litres per second. The chosen channel is made of high density polyethylene (HDPE), is shock-resistant and is certified to BS EN 1433:2002 Class F900. It is also designed with self-cleaning properties and is weatherproof with high temperature resistance, so it will provide a long-lasting solution.
EWF Property Maintenance installed the new channel, which diverted the water flow to a pond in the property’s garden. The channel drainage was finished with an uneven concrete surround to preserve the rustic feel of the property’s landscaping, as requested by the homeowner.
Andy commented, “The service we received from Flexseal was excellent. John’s advice helped me to be certain that the work we carried out would fulfil my customer’s needs and resolve the situation now and for the long term.”
