The winners of this competition all helping to celebrate the 10 year Anniversary of SIGA Natural Slate are:

Steve Pearson, UK Commercial Manager for Natural Slate at SIG Roofing, said: “The standard of entries was extremely high, demonstrating the strong talent among roofing contractors nationwide. The competition is among a number of promotional activities planned for 2015 by SIGA, as we are keen to collaborate and build stronger relationships with our customers.”

Neil Wilkinson, of Neil Wilkinson Roofing, SIGA Slate’s first place winner, said he was “over the moon to have been shortlisted in the top three, but to have won it as a sole trader against large roofing companies was amazing.” Neil continued: “To be recognised for our quality workmanship and win a national competition was fantastic, and since the win we have been offered a number of jobs by larger firms. We’re thoroughly looking forward to the trip in Spain”

Neil chose SIGA 39 from the Specification range for his work, saying: “We have been using this slate for five years and the project required a smaller looking slate and one that was flat, smooth and easy to work with as there was a lot of detail work to get round. The slate requires minimal sorting and grading, with very little waste. Longevity is key when laying slate, and with SIGA, and the warranties they provide, we are completely confident that we’re providing a quality product to our customers”.

Amanda Green, Marketing Manager for SIG UK Exteriors and implementer of the competition, said “The competition was designed to encourage our followers and users of SIGA Slate to share images of their work where SIGA had been used. We were really impressed with the standard of entries, but Neil Wilkinson Roofing went above and beyond, with their amount of entries and the quality of their workmanship.” She continued: “SIGA has an enviable reputation in the natural slate market, setting the benchmark in terms of consistency of quality, traceability, longevity of supply, choice and value. To be able to see the product in use by real customers really helps support the brand in the marketplace.”
