WeSpot revolutionize the security industry For many years, the security industry has relied on two basic systems: unintelligent infrared sensors and traditional surveillance cameras which require high levels of resources. Now the introduction of a smart camera is about to revolutionize the industry. WeSpot's camera combines the best of both basic systems in a single, completely new piece of technology. "What makes WeSpot's ASIC-based camera unique is the fact that it offers 'automatic visual alarm verification'. Each camera is a self-contained unit which makes independent decisions and distributes intelligent information. It can identify objects, separate them from each other, store and send pictures. "I am convinced that WeSpot's product is needed - and quickly," says Eklund. Vattenfall AB, one of the leading energy suppliers in Europe, has also taken a look at WeSpot's camera and shown an interest. In future, Vattenfall is likely to be in a position where it will benefit from WeSpot's concept, for both plant security and trespass control purposes. "WeSpot's concept feels fresh and new. It is very interesting that they have a separate ASIC processor which handles decisions within the camera itself so that you don't need to have someone sitting and watching the monitor," says Markus Norström, Project Leader of Vattenfall's Development Department. The WeSpot camera was shown for the first time at the CeBIT exhibition in Hanover, where the company received a great deal of attention from potential customers and interested parties. "I'll stick my neck out and say that no one so far has failed to be impressed by the camera", says Lars Holmqvist, Managing Director of WeSpot. "The important thing for WeSpot to do now is enter a context with complete systems," says Fleming Eklund. This is something which WeSpot is close to achieving. For some time now, the company has been in more or less close contact with the world's leading industrial partners in the security industry. Now Lars Holmqvist and WeSpot are looking forward to the security exhibition being held in Birmingham on 21 - 24 May. "We expect to be able to take several new innovations to the show," says Holmqvist. It will be possible for WeSpot's technology to be used in a wide range of different fields of application. At IfSEC, WeSpot plans to exhibit five different applications: intelligent intrusion sensors, face recognition, nursing security, airport security and smart door openers. "We are a relatively small and flexible company with a great deal of technical expertise and experience in designing consumer electronics. We can therefore develop solutions to meet the needs of the customer," says Lars Holmqvist.
