Exhibition highlights: art, culture and climate awareness

The Hanseatic city of Bremen is an invitation to culture vultures and adventurers to take a fascinating journey through its range of fascinating exhibitions. Visitors can travel around the world in 80 minutes, rediscover the beauty of the blue continent or find out more about the challenges associated with climate change. Alternatively, they can experience love from a different perspective or dive into the world of dinosaurs. With such a huge range of exhibitions, there us something for everyone.

As of 7 June 2025, Universum Bremen opens up the doors of a new special exhibition called ‘LOVE’, which invites visitors to explore the complexity and multiplicity of love. The exhibition covers an impressive 550 square metres broken down into seven themed areas boasting interactive exhibits, digital stations and personal stories showcasing the various forms love takes and its meanings.

The new permanent exhibition on ‘Extremes of Weather’ at the Klimahaus Bremerhaven gives visitors an insight into current climate-related challenges. Some 30 interactive exhibits and informative displays document the reality of climate change and demonstrate the impact that extreme weather events are having on the world. Visitors are urged to question their own habits and inspired to take a proactive stance on climate change. The highlight is the innovative interactive platform that gives visitors the opportunity to take an immersive trip through the atmosphere over three storeys. The powers of nature are staged all around with a mixture of video, movement, sound, special effect and staged elements.

The Übersee-Museum Bremen has a new permanent exhibition on ‘the blue continent’, which takes visitors on a journey through the fascinating island worlds of the Pacific. Interactive stations allow them to experience the blue continent hands on. The exhibition provides a platform for numerous voices from the region and showcases some of the major issues of our time, including biodiversity, cultural identity, use of resources and climate change. The eight metre landscaped island with its digital waterfall is a highlight in every sense.

The ‘Lead-up to 150 years of Paula Modersohn-Becker’ exhibition highlights the life and works of the famous artist who left footprints in the artists’ village of Worpswede, in Bremen and much further afield. The Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum in Bremen shows a selection of her most important works and invites visitors to share in the development of this ground-breaking painter. For those interested, there is a package deal available from July to October.

The Wilhelm Wagenfeld from A-Z exhibition, which runs until the end of August in Wilhelm Wagenfeld Haus, gives an in-depth insight into the works of this leading pioneer in the field of product design. Wagenfeld dominated the world of design in the BAUHAUS era with his iconic designs and innovative ideas. This exhibition takes a new approach to showcasing his lasting influence with an alphabetical system detailing his designs from A to Z in German.

Dinos Alive’ at Energiezentrale Bremen is a must for all dinosaur fans. The exhibition opened in April this year and allows visitors to experience the giants of ancient times close up. An immersive 360° projection allows visitors to become a part of this special ecosystem. The interactive exhibition provides fascinating insights into the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous eras, with some amazing features for all ages.

Bremen is a Hanseatic City on the Weser in the North of Germany. The city has its own airport and great connections to the railway network. From London Heathrow (LHR), you can get to Bremen (BRE) with Lufthansa in only 3 hours and 50 minutes, with just one stop. From London Stansted (STN), you have also non-stop flights with Ryanair.
